Please excuse my ignorance with this matter, but why does it take three aircraft to bring political delegates and/or the president to China (or anywhere else)?

The government of Canada uses a small private jet and chartered aircraft; much more cost effective and less polluting IMHO.

Why are they all at Beijing?

Now that "IS" an Air Force - Lets not mess around with GV's or BBJ cos this boy says "I'm in town"

Why is there no upper deck on the 747?

Beautiful airplanes, but so many in China?

There is an upper deck, but it can not be seen because the window shutters are closed.

I think we use all these planes because they look so freakin cool

(To the un-ID'ed visitor below me:) I think so too. They look so sharp and official, and they look even cooler when that 757 is around.

There are no windows on the upper deck of a VC-25 because the upper deck is used for communication purposes, not for passengers. If windows were there, they'd be covered up with equipment anyway.

That is kind of weird to see the whole Presidential Airlift Group aka Special Air Mission=SAM planes all together in one place
