Three B-52s are smoking their way out of RWY 03R, heading towards the Nellis ranges. What an amazing sight!

Folks, it's called a MITO (pronounced 'my-toe'). Seeing this photo of three B-52's reminds me of my days in SAC. We'd see a MITO with 3 B-52's, then 3 KC-135A's and then another 3 B-52's. I worked both 'D' and 'H' Models. Long Live the BUFF! DtD

Many years ago, whilst stationed at Minot AFB, I was Security Police tanker alert area supervisor, I used to really get a major adrenaline rush every time we launched all he alert birds during an unscheduled exercise. This photo brings that all back to me. The crews rushing to their aircraft, the engines turning and burning, the thunder of all those jet engines, and the black exhaust trails as the birds lifted off one after the other. A brilliant reminder of America's nuclear muscle during a simpler, less complex time.
