How incredible to see a golf course so close to a runway. Must be interesting, when concentrating on a putt, if a 747 or 777 roars by!

That's funny! I didn't know that it is allowed to play golf between the aircrafts, are there huge fences which protect the planes from the flying balls?

It's absolutely terriffic to be in there. There are only two channels between you and both runways. Before you can get in, you will have to cross taxiway S which is the one in this photo. The planes taxing ahead of you, wing over your head, feel the turbulences and smells. What a wonderful place to be! And don't worry about the golf balls, nobody can make it to the runways. Believe me. HeHe.

You get just as close to the action when playing the golf course at Hickam. Several Aloha 732's, Hawaiian 763's, a Delta 764, an AA 763, and a United 777, (to name a few) taxied by and tookoff on the Reef Runway as we were playing our round. Still my favorite golf course for that reason. :) Also, while driving to the golf course, you get to drive under the taxiway that leads to the Reef Runway (8R-26L). We had a QANTAS 747 pass right over us, which was pretty sweet. Though the enjoy noise is kinda' destracting when you're trying to putt. ;)

So dangerous!! Those players look quite close to the aircraft, and the golf balls could reach the engines easily..

Looks cool to play golf there, but can't the golf balls easily hit the planes nearby?

Excellent shot, it's amazing how well something like this puts the massive size of the 777 into perspective with real life.
Is there not even a fence between the golf course & airfield? That's amazing!

I, too, would love to play this course...You gotta wonder, though, is it secure? What's stopping any one of those guys on the green from walking over to the taxiway? (Not to mention the risks of a ball striking an a/c!)

I confused... is it that the taxi way is not fenced... like the playground is also the taxiway or something? Well give or take, I think its cool.

Great shot. if you look at the path from the plane to the course theres no fence.

Talk about a slow round of golf. 8 people per group and planes in your line of sight. I wouldn't be in any hurry to play through.
