I was camping in the next field at Fairford, and heard the take off. Absolutely wonderful, Trouble was I was cooking a barbeque at the time, which actually caught fire, when I got distracted by the sheer beauty of the aircraft. A lot of very burnt food with a barbeque and a cork board no longer in use. A very good RIAT though.

Now you can really see how big the 744 is to the people. It's truly amazing how us humans can planes and other things as well and make them fly.

Cracking shot, Ryan. This is an absolutely gorgeous display of the powerful elegance which the 744 holds. I also love the mood with the other spotters, especially the one with hands over the head.
Beautiful sight!

Wow, that plane looks so huge compared to the people along the runway. Great photo. I'm actually surprised that they allowed people to get the close to the runway action.

Beautiful! The dust that whirls cause of the jet blast gives a sense that this aircraft is taking off from a rwy somewhere in central Africa.Like the UN C-130s!

Truly amazing and close as you can get to the action without being fenced out because of security reasons - I am impressed!

This British Airways B-747 begins her rotation at the very end of the runway, and with no fence that separate the runway from the people witnessing the airplane taking off. Overall, the picture is simply amazing and astonishing. Very good shot taken at the right time, at the right place and witth the right airplane. Mr. Hemmings, you have done it. Congratulations!

Great angle, in my opinion the best on most planes as to make the sheer size of the plane stand out; and certainly on the sevenfortie, that is massive!

A fantastic capture. I was on board the plane when it took off. It was a charity charter to the airshow, RIAT. The plane was parked at the west end of the airfield. To take off into wind would have meant 2 mile backtrack down the runway. So it was a tailwind take-off. The plane had only 350 people on board, no luggage and not much fuel. Apparently the pilots manual states the power setting is full power for a tail wind take-off. It was an awesome ride!

Excellen shot but, looks so odd but so cool. Looks like the plane has been photoshopped and made bigger. I'm a heavy, err, heavy fan so I would have loved to have been there seeing this.
