Certainly a beauty, and I'm glad to see her after all those delays. But what about the smoke? Anyone with insight?

Smoke is from oil built up in engine

I guess it will take a loooooong time until we get to get used to these curvy, soft looking engines... those were the days, when we still had the real 747-400 and its smooth engines...

I was watching some programs about the a380 and there came smoke from the engine when it started and they said that is was protective oil layer or something

Amazing!! a new 747, it was about time for boeing to make a new 747 !! the smoke is the preservative oil burning out!! they put that oil when the engine is new or when its going to be stored for a long time

Nice shot I love how it shows the size of the 747( not that it isn't big).

Very nice shot. And rare - first engine run. They all smoke a lot when started for the first time. Lots of that on YouTube but never seen it here. Thank you.

I hope to be able to fly on her sister passenger version. I've always wanted to fly on a 747. I've been on most all other commercial models Boeing makes, yet the 747 has eluded me.

I love the name, "Queen of the skies". VERY true!
