It's amazing to see what became of this plane, I saw it regularly taking off on its long haul trips to the States.

5 stars for the shot itself and also the rarity of it. There is a picture of this a/c on the data base, taken in the early nineties looking immaculate after maintenance. Hard to believe it would end up this way in a few years.

I flew on St. Kieran twice, around 89/90. Once to the Canaries as when my (large) family had most of the nose to ourselves, it had only one class then. The other time on a trip around Leinster with the Aer Lingus young fliers club. It did look immaculate, but was very old. Aer Lingus bought it off Lufthansa in the 70s I think. I feel old looking at it now!

This photo just makes me said. St Kieran was the 'jumbo' that carried me on my first family holiday from Dublin to the Canary Island where I realized I was a budding plane buff. May he rest in peace.

This 747 was owned by Lufthansa, then Aer Lingus but was loaned to Lan Chile in 1990 it was then returned to Aer Lingus and repainted. This is an excellent shot but a sad sight also. Aer Lingus was once one of the best airlines in the world.

It's a sad ending to a great aircraft. The former flagship of the national carrier of Ireland. The amount of stars, leaders and heads of state that have traveled in this 747!!!
It should be in a museum not rotting in the desert.

5 stars purely for the rarity of the photo in question. Sad to see the old St. Kieran in this state.

A truly nostalgic photo. In May 1980 I flew on this plane and was invited up to the flight deck mid flight
and later. Took rolls of film in cockpit which I left behind at Shannon when leaving car for Cliffs of Moher. Thanks for this sadly nostalgic photo, David Rochford.NJ

A beautiful machine, flew on this from the U.S. to Ireland in the 80's from what I can remember.
