Trip Report: Sydney - Singapore on Singapore Airlines

Flight time: 8h 25m
Distance: 6,305 kilometers or 3,404 nautical miles.

Introduction

This was undertaken in 2009 while flying to Shanghai. Its a long report with many photos. I had written later reports below, click on each read:

Train Station

Had planned this trip in a short time, Had received the Chinese visa a week before departure.
As was travelling light, took a train to Sydney International Airport.

Observation deck

After completing check-in, with time to spare, went to the observation deck. Sydney used to have open observation deck in 2009.

I was soon time for immigration and security. Since the flight departed in the afternoon, queues were short for immigration and security.

Duty-Free Shopping

Passing through the duty-free shops towards the gate.

Heading towards the gate. Flight was departing from gate 57, which handles the A380.

Boarding still had time, airside action while waiting for boarding call.

Travelling in economy class, boarding was through the lower deck. Once on board, settled in seat. British Airways to London via Bangkok and Singapore.

Departure

Once passengers had boarded, Service began with towels provided to wipe face and hands. Pushback was on time, after taxing to runway 34L, took off towards North, watch video to experience the takeoff.

Due to the windows, its very quiet onboard the A380. Can hardly hear the engine noise, specially in the upper deck.

Did not take the landing as it was dark. With double layer of glass, can't see much outside.

Flight arrived at terminal 3. As I was transiting with 4 hrs from the same terminal, passed walking around, checking the duty free options when I return back to Changi.

Ah, the old days, when I was a boy! Looking at those old liveries and 747s made me think of those days, back when I used to hate the A380 for being ugly and then feeling sad that China Southern began operating them LAX-CAN the next year in 2011. Good report though.

I enjoyed travelling on the A380 for the quiet cabin, spacious feel. Thanks.
