To Hong Kong and Sydney on AA/TG; 77W/388/744

The trip actually started and ended in MSY but for the sake of this report, I'll just cover the flights that I actually documented in picture form.

It was an amazing adventure...in the space of one week. Two nights and two full days in HKG, two nights and two full days in SYD. Just long enough for me to scratch the surface. Both cities were world class, amazing, you pick the superlative. I hope to go back one day to dig a little deeper.

AA took me to HKG (via ICN since the toilets stopped working, which caused us to divert to get the lavs serviced), and back home from SYD. Both transoceanic segments were on the 77W. I had J to HKG, and I was in F on the way back from SYD. Long haul on the 77W is a solid product, The seats provide good comfort and privacy, and I was able to sleep soundly on both long flights for quite a few hours. The AVOD system is top notch...you can never get bored...and the food is plentiful. If for some reason you got hungry, there was always something available in the mid-cabin bar area. Service was friendly and attentive by all members of the cabin crew.

I chose TG to fly between HKG and SYD simply because of the aircraft types...A380 connecting to 747-400. It doesn't get much better than that. Obviously I was excited about logging my second A380 (first being LAX-MEL on QF quite a few years ago), but I was absolutely jumping for joy at the chance of getting on one more 744. TG's Y product was excellent, frankly. My expectations were exceeded. Truth be told... probably the best Y experience of my life.

I've also included some pictures from both HKG and SYD.

In total, including the domestic segments, I flew 24,788 miles. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. From here on out, I'll let the pictures do the talking. Thanks for reading.

Great trip report! I love that you did it inside of a week.
I'm impressed that Thai offers pictures and a description of the meal choices on the PTV....even in coach.
AA's J and F seats and services look pretty solid on the 77W.
Nice job.

Thanks!
TG really impressed me in all areas. The quality of the meals were top notch, too. Very flavorful.
AA's 77W is a nice way to fly, no doubt.

Thanks for this report.
AA looks good and the 747 is always the queen of the skies!
I agree Hong Kong is a great city and one with so much going on.
I am travelling on the AA73 myself in a few months, but it is showing as a 789...my chance of my upgrade clearing isn't looking so good

The TG 744 was in immaculate shape and it was just as comfortable as the A380 from a seat perspective.

HKG...I need to go back. I was just blown away.

Great report, thanks for posting it.
One thing...... brussels sprouts? ON A PLANE??
Yikes.
I was in Hong Kong in February- count yourself lucky, because the Ngong Ping 360 cable car was closed for six months, from January to June!
A buddy of mine hates Hong Kong. And I get it. It's 24/7 of sheer lunacy. Nonstop, a zillion people, etc. But I actually liked it quite a lot. While crowded, it's pretty well organized. And beautiful. Neat place!
