BA B777-200ER LHR > MAD in CE (CW Cabin)

Thu May 11, 2017 12:56 pm

When BA announced they were using a B772 on the 458/457 MAD run I knew I had to try it !

Due to on going issues I struggle to load photos onto here so photos can be found here :

Using some BA/Avios I booked a one way Club Europe ticket and then reserved seat 14K rear facing in Club World cabin. Arrived at T5 and headed straight to Galleries South Lounge at 0520. A couple of bacon rolls, pastry, a Daily Mail and a few Cappuccino's set me up nicely for the day.
Boarding on time so got myself on there first for a few pics. Loading commenced as some pax were 'wowing' their way through the Club World cabin (By the way I travel in Y more than anything, so when I get the chance to fly in CW nobody appreciates it more than me !).

The take off was quite something. I guess being a light(er) load we took off like a rocket and almost falling forward out of my seat looking down at LHR !! Some say they don't like flying backward but once at cruise level there really is no difference for me. It was announced that due to some EU law there would be no IFE.... oh well !

English breakfast was served and even after the lounge I still had and enjoyed this one ! After that is was time to sit back, relax and read The Mail.

My home airport is LHR and home airline is British Airways for which I'm thankful for as I really am the biggest BA fan ! Arriving at and going through T5 is always a joy for me. I love the BA aircraft, seats, crew, service, food & drink ! And yes I know seated at a window you have climb over someones feet in CW but I love the seat and yes I have flown recent with AY/CX in J.

I know you can't please everyone but I think BA do a lot of things right !

Thanks for the report!

I agree with you about LHR T5. I love it and never quite understand the hate of it from some!

Would be interested to find out which "EU law" prevented the IFE from being used! That sounds fishy. Seems to be quite a regular occurence these days in the UK to blame things on "EU" or "Europe"!

Thanks for the report!

Regarding the IFE, it's nothing to do with the EU so not sure why that was announced! BA doesn't have the rights (from film studios) to have the IFE switched on on European routes (bar ATH, IST and LCA).

Oh really never knew. Maybe those rights from the film studios are the EU law ?? ..... Anyway I was just happy to enjoy the seat, food, cabin & Daily Mail on this two hour hop. Cheers
