Question About Fence In Shot.

Wed Apr 06, 2016 4:18 am

Hi all

I recently got the chance to photograph a US Air Force C-40 landing at my local airport but i wasnt allowed to be right next to the fence so i have a shot with the fence in the bottom of the frame but I am not sure if it is reject worthy,

here is the shot: https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/b.../ready/h1459916075.223201-0041.jpg

Best regards

Fence should be fine, but quality of the airplane looks a bit questionable.

I think you're OK for motive, mate.
I would bump up the Contrast a bit though!

Nice catch!

The fence is fine, the windows seem a bit soft and it needs some contrast to make it viable.

It seems blurry rather than soft (especially the titles, windowline and nose). Blurry usually can't be fixed by adding sharpening, so I suggest to take a good look at the original. If it's indeed blurry, I'm afraid this one will be for the personal collection.

Quoting the Rejections Guide:

Quote:
For regular shooting situations, fences should not block any part of the aircraft. Fences taking up more than one-third of the frame can also be considered motive rejections even if not blocking part of the aircraft.

Quoting FedexL1011 (Reply 5):

Yeah, the fence is no issue at all. Image quality is still kinda marginal though (sorry).
Also a bit yellow and dark, but those can be easily corrected (see below, left= mine, right = yours):

May I ask where the quality issue lies? I am trying a new sharpening technique so if its producing the problem i will happily change it.

Jordan.
