Prescreening Help Norwegian 787

Fri Jan 29, 2016 6:55 pm

Hi,

I would like to get some advice on whether this image would be acceptable to A-net or if something more needs to be done or if it's a lost cause to edit it for screening:

Thanks!

Hey there!
Sorry to say that your photo is soft, overexposed, high in frame, and a wee bit flat. The crop is also a bit off for me.

High in frame can be corrected with a 16:9 crop ratio. Looks overexposed, soft, and pretty weak on the contrast. All of those can also be fixed in photoshop.

As for the crop, is that the original or did you crop it to be like that already? I don't think that will suffer a motive rejection though.

Thank you for your feedback, it's appreciated.

I'll start with the crop... from this angle the wings of the 787 do extend quite a bit and if I try to include all of it in the image, in my opinion, it looks unbalanced. Is it prefereable to have the whole aircraft anyway? What are the recommendations for cropping wings, etc?

I've been getting soft rejections which is a bit frustrating for me, especially since swithcing to a new monitor. On my Dell UltraSharp U2415 the image looks like it's bordering on jaggies appearing which makes me hesitant to add more sharpening... is it soft overall or is it around the tail section where it is unsharp?

As for contrast, the lighting was a weird on this day with the low sun (typical for Sweden in the winter) shining through scattered clouds and overcast in the background making the whole background white. Adding more contrast made the image look all blown out... I guess an alternative is to select the aicraft only in Photoshop (which should be easily done since the background is totally white) and add contrast only to the aircraft.
