OK, I tried...   5 of 5 get rejected today, 10 more to go. I don't think my photos are up to this site latest screeners demand - nothing changes since February.

Rejected for two reasons. What "Left in frame" mean? Also "Soft" which doesn't feels soft for me (if we talking about copter which is the main object, other can be soft however). And I can't get whole idea of HQ 1 from firs screener - and rejection from second.

It means exactly what it says.. Subject is too left in the frame (not centered).

So you think he should move it further to the right? ;) :o

I suspect the screener meant it needs to be moved "left in frame"? Personally, I'd crop most of the rotor out - it's adding nothing and makes the shot look unbalanced:

Oh, I forgot to mention that I obviously don't agree with Left in Frame. Probably a miss-click by the screener. I agree with Steve's crop.

Hm... I know that left is right and right is wrong but does it apply to aviation pictures? Seriously, Kas, you seems dismissed both rejection reasons, right? In case I still want to frame it the way it is (which technically comply with Anet rules)?

Of course it applies to aviation images. You have to take horizontal centering in account too, not just vertical centering. And I didn't dismiss either rejection. I explained what "left of frame" means and I said the sharpening is passable. If you include the rotor, it would be borderline OK for me, although it does look unbalanced from that angle (which is why Steve's crop looks better).

I thought images didn't get rejected for what looks like an unbalanced crop due to including full helicopter rotors.

That's why I said that this crop would be OK for me. I'm pretty sure the left in frame rejection was a mistake.

Appealed it, let's wait outcome. UPD: Accepted. Question: if I upload another shoot with same copter at the same place same day but hoods closed and engine started (first ground test of new modification) will it be rejected as double?

Soft? I just exchanged all my editing gears and has three different screens attached - 17" 1920x1080, 24' 2560x1440 and old one 20" 1600x900 (which I put instead of sole 24" 1920x1200 I used to check how it looks like on non-retinas). All three makes me impression that its closer to OS.

The An-2 is a bit backlit, but the cool factor might make up for it ;)

The Il-14 is good.

Il-14: looks good to me.
An-2: dark due to backlit. Otherwise ok for me.
L-39: blurry nose and aft fuselage.

What level of tolerance then for DOF in such conditions for A.net?

Well, perhaps don't include the side of the entrance in the frame. One way to achieve that would be getting closer, although that would also involve using a wider zoom.

Ok, let's look into another cockpit:

Image

or

Image

still part of picture will be OOF because of DOF

and here we go with 12mm - still...

I've seen worse OOF issues in cockpit shots accepted here, but it's really subjective from one screener to another. What aperture were these shot at?

Heh, rejected for OS and empowered with blurry after appeal. And as HS see blurriness in it it's for trash can then because blurriness in contrary to softness can't be cured, right?

angad84 wrote:

Rejected for dark and doesn't pass appeal too. So as i understand it's not A.net worthy as I think it can't be pushed "brighter" any more that I done already.

Usually blurryness can't be fixed. But sometimes going to a smaller size will help 'hide' blurryness (as in it being less apparent).

Problem is I can't see any blurriness in this and couple other rejected today. Soft parts - possibly. But not blurry.

Thanks. BTW, what is your screening installation? I changed my old TN set of notebook + monitor (Samsung X360 13"TN 1280x800 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443NW 24"TN 1920x1200) for new IPS one (Ideapad Z710 17"IPS 1920x1080 + Dell P2416D 24"IPS 2560x1440 + Acer V203h 20"TN 1600x900) with much dense dpi/ppi. I connect Acer with it's loose ppi specially to recheck sharpness on "non-retina" screens. But judging from my constant decline of acceptance ratio, it doesn't helps :(

It's exactly same dpi/ppi as my Acer V203h
