Pre Screening Advice

Tue Jul 25, 2006 9:18 pm

Hello all

After a long absence I'm finally back !!

I have a few pictures in the queue where I would like some feedback if possible:

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/OO-TUI.jpg
https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/OO-TNF_02.jpg

For these two pictures I'm wondering if the slight heat haze on the wingtips is a definite no? and if the motiv will be ok ?

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/OO-VEX_04.jpg

and I'm wondering if this one is too soft or not ?

Then I have a question to the screeners (I hope they'll read this  wink  )

A few days ago I had a rejection saying (editing/personal), but with the problems I never received a rejection e-mail. Could the screener in question maybe tell me what the personal note was ? Here's the picture:

Greetings

1 and 2: Lovely shots, good motive as far as I can tell (not being a screener), but I fear that the heat distortion will kill their chances.

3: Again a beautiful shot but yes looks a little soft in places. However, the photo also seems to suffer from either jpeg compression or maybe residual noise around the titles in particular and further sharpening will accentuate it further. With this photo perhaps you are asking your equipment for more than it can deliver.

Keep trying. You've obviously got talent as a photographer and sooner or later it will come right for you.

Good choice of large aperture to throw the approach lights out of focus.

For me, no. 2 is the best shot, but heat haze may kill it.

3. Looks soft and oversharpened at the same time around the nose (cockpit windows look jagged).

I think 1. and 2. are nice, but believe the heat haze is going to result in a rejection. The second looks like it could use a little CW rotation too.

What I think:

1 and 2: Aircraft too high in frame, too much of the lights at the bottom. Nice shots though. Also a touch dark, though that will probably be my works monitor

3: Quality isnt there for me, although ita b/w its too flat. Also quite grainy around the front of the fuselage. Nice angle though

Thanks for all the nice words and the advice so far  Smile

I've pulled number 3 from the queue and will do some slight CW rotation on the second one later.

I've kept number one in the queue and let's hope it makes it  crossfingers

No risk no fun  Wink

I made the following change. Is it any better ? The horizon is now level but the slope of the runway is more visible....

Nothing more to say than the already mentioned. But I really enjoy your first two shots! Good luck with the acceptance!

This one was rejected for DIRTY ? Can someone help me spot the dust spot ?
