Rejection Feedback

Tue Oct 02, 2018 4:30 pm

Posted in incorrect forum initially. Apologies.

-Soft

Image

-Blurry
-Oversharpened

Can someone show me what proper sharpening looks like? I am unsure how to proceed with my editing. The first image was rejected for being soft, among other valid points. And when I tried to add some sharpening to the second one, it was rejected for oversharpening. I am trying to get better at editing, and I suppose I just need some direction and guidance.

The left-hand crop on both images are out of the camera, I am using a 200-500mm lens that is too much length for how close I was.

Thank you all! What a community this is.

I don't see blurry, but I do see over-sharpening. There are jaggies visible on the cockpit windows as well as on the nose gear and nose gear doors. When I sharpen, I use a layer which allows me to then use the eraser tool on areas where jaggies appear. Send me a PM and I'd be happy to share my editing workflow with you.

I'm not a big fan of this crop: showing 3/4's of the aircraft makes me wonder why the rest of the aircraft is not included.Nice lighting.

Cheers,

Jehan

I appreciate that. Thank you. Believe me, I don't like the crop any more than you do, it's just the best I could do with what I had at the time. Cheers.

The first photo look salvagable with a better (tighter) crop and a bit of sharpening.
The second photo *could be* blurry and oversharpened to compensate. A little hard to tell with the jaggies.

Thank you both.

Crop between the "t" and "h" perhaps?

I will make those changes and roll the dice again. I am assuming I should notate a re-upload in the photographer comments?

The first one I would crop just before the "t". And yes, I highly recommend leaving a comment to the screeners of the prior rejection and the changes made.
