Photo Feedback

Wed Aug 01, 2018 12:20 am

Hello everyone,

I've been on the site for years (since 2004 or so probably), but only recently finally got a good camera and lenses to go with it. My acceptance rate is pretty low atm, around 20%, so I was hoping to get some post/pre screen feedback on a few shots.

Rejected:

1. https://i.imgur.com/XPp4c86.jpg - overexposed/noise. I'm guessing overexposed on the nose, but I don't see a whole lot of noise here. (I'd quite like to resubmit this one)
2. https://i.imgur.com/MAlzs4G.jpg - soft/noise. To be fair i wasn't really pleased with this one but figured i'd give it a shot. Again I don't see a whole lot of noise here.

Being Screened:
1. https://i.imgur.com/Br2HiXa.jpg - Is this too soft?
2. https://i.imgur.com/5DZpKfq.jpg
3. https://i.imgur.com/qMHwq82.jpg

Not yet uploaded:
1. https://i.imgur.com/joYGJfB.jpg
2. https://i.imgur.com/Ml7qbZ0.jpg - alternative to the first Etihad shot, underside might be a bit dark but the rest seems ok to me.

Thanks in advance,

-Mikhail

AS B738: Sky is very blotchy and there's quite a bit of haloing around the aircraft (might be some sort of compression?)
WN B73G: Sky is also blotchy, high in frame, green/cyan cast

UA B752: Very hazed (note the uneven lines on the wing and engine nacelles)
EY B789: Sky a bit blotchy in certain areas. Could use a bit more contrast.
LH B748: Same as above

AF A380: Needs a tighter crop in front of the nose.
EY B789: Tighten the crop slightly near the nose, lift the shadows by 15-20%, and reduced the exposure a bit

Don't really see halos on the AS, it is a bit noisy, as is the WN, which also looks soft, and potentially heat hazed/blurry in spots. UA 752 has significant heat hazed as mentioned. EY is minorly blotchy (thinking maybe thats imgur at this point), contrast is okay imo. LH is a bit overexposed, contrast is fine imo. AF is off center but that may be passable, borderline there and on exposure. If from the same day, the EY will be a double rejection. Second EY is a little overexposed and has shadowing issues.

Yea the EY shot is from the same sequence. I only submitted one, just wanted an opinion on the 2nd. Either way I pulled both it and LH for a redo. Thanks for the comments.

I would say the UA has very little chance of making it due to the heat haze, I’d advise pulling it too. Sorry to bring bad news
