Chicago skyline from a Cessna 172 pre screen

Wed Jul 11, 2018 4:01 pm

Yesterday I got to fly up the Chicago lakeshore VFR corridor on my way to KPWK. I snapped this shot of the skyline and was wondering if it had any chance of making it here. I dont have the best of luck when it comes to wingviews.

Hey Zach, nice perspective of the Chicago skyline; glad you're continuing to accumulate your hours! Re. this image, it has a blue tint to it especially noticeable on the wing strut. I tried some auto WB in Photoshop and it seemed to fix it. Also some minor noise on the wing strut. With these edits, it would be acceptable for me.

Cheers

This version looks a bit soft (wing flaps and the Pitot tube). Did you rework the original or make the edits on your last version. I have found softness occurs especially if you straighten, re crop, resize etc after sharpening. The color balance and noise (original issues) looks fine. I missed the border issue but good that you corrected for it.

I re-cropped from the edited image. I did some selective sharpening to try and fix the issue as well

Zach, I think the last version looks OK.

Nice shot! I did add "single engine prop" and "window" as categories though ;)
