Best Autofocus Type for Aviation Photography

Sat Sep 16, 2017 11:09 pm

Which autofocus method on a dlsr would be best for aviation photography? I used auto-selection and one point with AI Servo but auto-selection fell apart with KLM due to it being the same color as the sky and one point seems to be ok but not amazing.

Hi,
I usually choose the focusing point by myself instead of Auto selecting. I usually choose the center single point with AI Servo. Nevertheless, if i take Airshow pictures i prefer to choose other modes.

Hi Lightningzap, I use single point/spot auto focusing focusing (or the multitude of other sub choices my Nikon gear offers) versus continuous since many times I am following an aircraft and if it happens to pass items in the background or foreground, I do not want the focus to lock on to those items.
