Thanks Harry and Vik.
How about the framing on the EK shot? Is that low in frame a killer?

Ideally there should be less space between the top and bottom aircraft. My eyes go to the middle of the image first, before realizing there's nothing there and then wander around the image. So although I get the point of this composition, it's likely not going to work.

I'm of the same opinion. I don't particularly mind it, but it is a bit awkward and I don't think it'll fly here.

Rejected for Blurry Overexposed Oversharpened Low in Frame - I do not believe the shot is Blurry, Overexposed or Oversharpened. Regarding Low in Frame, I did make a note to the screeners saying the framing was intentional to include the landing aircraft in the background. This creates a more dramatic shot. What do you think? Is the framing a killer for this shot?

Steve

Hi mate,

I do agree with the blurry, particularly around the flight deck window, that looks "fuzzy". That's the best way I can put it, the emirates web address text also looks fuzzy in the same way. If the original image is sharp, then it might be the resizing of the image that makes this occur.

I think I agree with Kas and Vik regarding the composition, but I can see what you were trying to achieve and I like the idea.

Hi again all,
Can I get some opinions on this one...
https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/air ... a260922dba
Rejected for Oversharpened Noise Underexposed. Sharpness seems on par with other Emirates A380 shots I've seen accepted lately. Noise and exposure I don't think are killers.

and this one...

Rejected for Blurry Oversharpened Soft

Thanks.

First shot looks okay to me. Noise I can't see unless I use the Equalise function in Photoshop, and then it is minimal. Exposure is correct for the time of day and I think it is sharp enough.

Second one I can't help you with - that's a link to your photographer's corner section.

HI Steve,

the Emirates is absolutely fine to me.
Sharpness seems allright, I cannot see noise and as said beofre exposure seems to be correct for the time of the day.

The QR A380 looks not bad to me actually. But i think it could have more sharpness as the windows and title looks slight soft maybe because of angle problem i think. Besides, i like this angle and sunshine !

Thanks Harry. Slightly soft along windows... but no blur. Would love a screeners thoughts on where the blur is. Blur seems to be getting used a lot lately. After many years in the hobby, and much improved photography/ editing skills and equipment, I have more shots rejected for blur than ever before. Not sure how I manage that one!

Here's one from todays round of rejections.

Rejected for Overexposed Oversharpened Common Underexposed

Any chance the screener involved in this one could provide some clarity on exposure and sharpening?
Seems pretty similar to

Looking for advice on another one....

Rejected for Blurry Soft. Just trying to pinpoint the blur. Sharpness looks aceptable to me and seems consistent to these recent accepted shots of mine (taken same day)

.. but I have no confidence judging sharpness!

Any thoughts?

Would still appreciate some thoughts on the Qantas A330 posted above.

Thanks

Hello Steve.

Re the Qantas Airbus: Looks fine to me - the bright nose retains detail so there is no way that is either under- or overexposed to my eye. I am interested how you can have both under- and overexposed reasons for the same image - the shaded area to the left looks fine given the lighting. It's sharp, but I thought that's generally how A.net liked things, and the line between that and soft is so tricky. There's a straight dark line to the right of the 'S' of Qantas, above the door, which is slightly oversharpened. I would say that is a harsh one.

As for the Polar/DHL: again, seems pretty harsh to me. I am struggling to identify notable softness or blur - maybe the flightdeck window area is ever so slightly soft, but you've got to be really looking for perfection if you are going to use that as a reason to reject.

All the best.

Hi Steven,

Just saw your Qatar A380 while browsing the queue and it looks oversharpened to compensate blur. The previous version looks better compared to it, but I'm afraid the initial screener had it right that the photo has issues (which are even more obvious in the current version that's in the queue). My suggestion would be to pull it.

Thanks Kas. I didn't see your post till after the Qatar was screened. Here is the shot so others can see.

Rejected for 'Compression Oversharpened High Contrast'. Still hoping to learn how to better spot compression issues. Any tips? No mention of blur. Is that related to compression? As for OS... titles? somewhere else? all over?
On a happier note, the Emirates A380 discussed above was accepted on appeal. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Cheers

Hi again
Hoping for some help pinpointing blur, compression and oversharpening on this one. Also rejected for underexposed.

I am comparing to this shot below which was taken same day location and shows a similar angle.

Thanks guys

The lower windowline and titles just seem too marginal on this one. It could indeed also be brighter by at least +0.20.

Sorry Kas... marginal in what way? Blurry? Oversharpened?

Thanks

Some blur and oversharpening as part of the correction for the area. It's hard to pinpoint the exact issues, but it just looks too marginal. Sorry to say, but I'd let it go.

Had this one rejected....

for BlurryOversharpenedCommonHigh in Frame
Would love help pinpointing the blur and oversharpening. Also the framing seems OK to me but would appreciate thoughts.
Thanks

Hi all,
Looking for some feedback on this one
https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/air ... 376a3fe0fb
Rejected for blurry and oversharpened.
The quality of the original and the editing I believe is on par with these accpeted shots.

Like my other shots from this location, it was taken from over 2km away. The aircraft is sharp and in focus. I can see no blur or jaggies to suggest oversharpening. To me, this suggests this edit is within acceptable standards.
I am reluctant to appeal without advice here as in my experience very subjective 'blurry' rejections are very rarely overturned.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve,
The nose part of the rejected one looks bit of soft to me, which might look like blurry i think. And those letters above the front gear look slight blurry to me. Those accepted photos look better than this one you can compare them and you will see the rejected one has slight soft.

Cheers,
Harry
