Post-Screening: Double?

Hi all,

I uploaded this shot early last year:

I decided I would like to upload another angle of this plane on the same day, and this is the photo in question.

After being HQ'ed and following a few second opinions later, the shot was rejected for only double. I would like to know whether I should appeal as I believe that the site allows both head-on and side-on angles of the same aircraft on the same day.

Hi Yang,

Your are absolutely right that this site accepts a head-on AND a side-on for the same day. However, in your case the already accepted one is neither a head-on nor a side-on. Here's what the acceptance guide says (emphasis mine):

For an accepted or submitted image that is nearly head or tail-on, we will generally also allow a side-on from either or both sides that is 90 degrees or more different viewing angle from the other image(s).

Two more questions: regarding the DC-8, would a closeup of the engines be considered double?

Also to be sure, would these pairs of shots taken during an airshow be considered double as well?

No.

C17: grey area, but from the back that angle is really unflattering in my personal opinion.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but what exactly does being HQ'ed mean ?

HQ'ed from what I have gathered means that a screener viewed the image, but had some things that they were unsure of so they had another screener take a look.

Thanks....so liek Len mentioned , HQ means the image doesn't warrant outright rejection and so another screener needs to concur with original screener to accept it. I guess practically speaking , HQ stands for Half Quality, since it takes two HQs to certify the image to be acceptable.
