Heat Haze rejection

Sun Dec 04, 2016 3:52 pm

Hi
Had this image rejected for heat haze, looking for opinions as to where the heat haze is.

I'm not on my editing screen, but to me it looks a tad oversharp. Might you have sharpened to compensate for a little haze or blur?

Given the flexibility we now have on image size, crop out the junk at the bottom of the frame.

Looks more OS than heat hazed from the monitor that I am currently on. What I can't tell is if that OS is due to a blur or haze initially. Do you have the original file before editing for us to look at?

The areas that show what I am referring to best are the nose and titles. Overall appears to hit the leading edge of the wings as well.

There is the chance that it is OS, I have decided to edit another picture as the one before looking at it again and I think I over compensated on the sharpening. If I can find the orignal image I will post it when I am back at my laptop. Away with work this weekend until next Monday.

Given the shadow of the wing up the fuselage, it's obviously early or late in the day, so unless you've shot this at a significant focal length, it won't be heat-hazed. Actually looks kind of blurry to me.
