Hi A, looks really nice both of them. First of all I would upload in a smaller size, especially when you just start uploading, like 1200 or 1400 depending the quality. I notice some big dirtspots in the photo. Haven`t you noticed? They are in both photos around the tail of the planes. There are more dustspots as well. When you equalize in photoshop you can see them more clearly. There is also a lot of noise in the sky, try to get rid of that. I would say both photos have too less contrast, try to play with it to see the difference. The Air Canada is not sharp, I would say blurry or soft. I am not good at seeing this but I still can see it so that says something :) The light doesn`t look like it is in your favor because the top is very bright while the sides look dark. Maybe not the best images to start with although I am not sure. Hope this helps.

Hi A,

Sorry for a bit of a late reply. There are a couple of issues with the photos, which I'll try to explain below.

BA:
- Underneath the tail you have a darker 'line', which is a fiber on your sensor. Underneath the hor.stab. there's a large dust spot as well. Best to check the entire sky for this.
- Leading edge of the wing is oversharpened (shows jaggies).
- In my opinion the quality isn't quite there, sorry.

AC:
- Same dirty sensor issues.
- Too much of a green cast over the image.
- The aircraft looks slightly blurry, especially the tail section.
- In my opinion the quality isn't really there either.

Kas is dead on with it. You have to have a quality shot to begin with. I personally try not to shoot planes that high - it's always hard because of the distance/heat haze.

Just a quick note about taking photos of aircraft that high; it can work, but you'll need to make sure the sun is in a good position.
I'm guessing you took the photos at LHR; you'll find it plenty of banking shots in the database. Perhaps have a look and see what they look like compared to your photos.
Nevertheless distance and haze are a factor and can easily ruin such photos.
