YYZ Planespotting

Sun Jun 07, 2015 5:07 pm

Hi all,
I'm planning to do some planespotting at Toronto airport while I'll be in the area at the end of June. Anyone can recommend good locations for commercial / cargo arrivals / departures? I will have my car with me so I'm mobile.
What I know as ORD AW member there is a sister planespotting group in Toronto area.
Thanks for any tips.

You have lots of choice. Short final Rwy05 on Dixie Road or 06L/R you follow Britannia Road to the end. Rwy23 of course around the famous PetroCanada gas station station. I could be around there but by chance.

Thanks for a tip. I will be in the area between June 30 and July 3. Exactly not sure what day will be designated for spotting.
Is there any rule what runway is used e.g for havies or cargo? Thanks

Heavies are mainly planned on 05/23 and 06L/24R. Also 05L/33R but less used AFAIK. My best spots are at short final 05 and 23 to catch landings and at 06L for touchdowns and closeups with the line-up on the taxiway and holding point. You can also reach 06R action from there. Find some photos on the DB here or videos on YouTube taken from that spot.

I did two stops at the airport and get a lot of shots there. It was long time ago but met some spotters and had a nice time there. Writing it now once I did not looked here long long time :)
Thanks everyone for tips.
