United 747 Scrap Picture Photoshopped
UNITED logo on this plane has clearly been photoshopped in this pic. If you look at a past pic of this same plane there is no logo on the plane. They wouldn’t paint the logo on the plane to scrap it...clearly not a legitimate pic, yet it’s on the front page of the website. How common is this to have a pic that doesn’t depict reality? Personally, looking at these 2 pics I don’t think they’re the same tail number because they’re showing different details of scrapping that don’t match up, but either way I’m convinced the UNITED logo is photoshopped. Thoughts?

Why would someone go to all the effort in photoshopping the photo of a partly scrapped United B744 and then posting it in the photo section?
Looking at the background scenery of the photo plus all the equipment surrounding the aircraft are you 100% sure that it's the same B744?

I have a hunch that the most recent photo is not the same aircraft as in the older photo. The older photo carries a visible registration (N171UA), while the recent one doesn't. My guess is that the photographer of the msot recent photo incorrectly assumed his subject to be N171UA as well. Either way, I will investigate this, thanks.

It's clearly not the same aircraft: in the older picture, the winglet is gone, in the newer one, it's still there. No way they'd put the winglet back on for the demolition...
Same with the doors: forward and aft doors have been cut out in the older picture, but are still intact in the newer one.

If you look at the large version of the newer pic and/or zoom in on the UA titles, you can clearly see lines where the letters were cut & pasted or are decals/stickers.

I sent the photographer a direct message. This is indeed N182UA not N171UA. I think the confusion comes from N182UA originally had her United titles covered with plastic that was removed. N171UA had her United titles painted over and was finished being scrapped at the start of the year. She also never had her cockpit removed unlike N182.

I would suggest looking a little closer at the two pictures. Why don't we do a quick comparison before we suggest that the photog photoshopped his picture?
If you look at N171UA, you will see the L1 door section has been completely cut out as with the other a/c (N182UA??), the L1 door is very much intact. Also,some other features to point out, N171UA is missing its port side winglet and outboard slats, whereas N182UA isn't. You will also notice various antennas and other communication/entertainment domes on top of N182UA(??) that are missing from N171UA.
The picture of N171UA was taken 11 months before the picture of N182UA and while I guess it's entirely possible for the winglet, slats, antennas, etc to be added back onto 182UA, why would a scrapping company waste valuable time and money doing so only to take those things off the a/c again?
I suggest the OP and others look a little closer at photos before making posts suggesting that a photographer has photoshopped his/her pictures.

I notice that the mods have been sensitive again and deleted several posts in this thread why I ask myself why, it's not one of them who has actually uploaded the photo is it!

Don't blame the mods, I was the one who reported this thread and suggested it should go in the photography forum. The topic is about a photo that got accepted which may have been illegally doctored. That definitely belongs here more than in Civil Av.
