I will fly to Turkey in December, I thinking about doing a daytrip to LTBA. Do you know if they still operate in December from that Airport? Since as far as I know, all cargo aircraft operate from the new Istanbul airport. I read IST will close end of December.
So, is it worth? Expect, that it Winter and won't have much light.
Is the FlyInn still open? The last time I was there in 2010, however in the flight school - that was pretty expensive, so I would prefer going to burger king this time, even I have read, that you need to be careful and put your cam back in your bag after shooting.

I was in Istanbul in early July and can answer some of your questions.
Yes, FlyInn is still open. The cafe on the top floor has the famous balcony. I spent the whole afternoon there (ordered regular drinks and something to eat). There were lots of people taking photos and videos. No issues whatsoever.
The location is only good for afternoons because it's west of the N/S runways. In december you'll be lucky to get much more than three and a half hours of photography in an afternoon.
I'm afraid I can't answer questions about what traffic will be left at IST in December. A quick look at FR24 just now shows IST looking just as busy as always and nothing moving at the new airport.

Yes, it's true, Maybe I will go to the spotting location on the sea in the morning and switch in the afternoon to flyinn.
According to Wikipedia, LTBA will be closed on 30th of December, on this day all companies will move to the new airport within 45 hours, so the first flight from the new istanbul airport will be depart from 1th of January.
Which day is the best, to get interesting traffic? Any recommendations?
