PHX terminal 4 spotting

Mon Mar 12, 2018 4:12 pm

Its looking like I'm going to have 6+ hours of time to kill at PHX next Friday and was wondering where the best place to spot from within the terminal is? I'll have some family members with me, so I can't go wandering outside the terminal.

According to the PHX airport website, I should have access to both the north and south sides of the terminal so I'm guessing that due to the sun's position the north (American) side would be best?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

In the morning the south side (WN gates) and whatever is taxiing from the north to south if aircraft are departing east to west. Afternoon is the American gates but you will see Westjet, Rouge, Volaris and possibly some taxies from T3 if departing east to west.

You only need to take the elevator (from west end or east end) to level 9 and go outside. There is typically no issue with security. Note that the elevators are outside the secured passenger areas so leave time to get through security to your gate.
Improvise, adapt, overcome.

Good points but I think his point was not having to re-do TSA.

Correct, once I'm checked in I'd rather not re-do TSA. The plan right now is to take the camera and do the FitPHX walking route, but check out each concourse for a good spotting location. My flight is at 7p and I could be at the airport as early as noon-ish.

Going through TSA if you have TSA pre-Check takes only minutes. If you don't, at each checkpoint I noticed this December they have a wait time list for each of the 4 checkpoints.

For the amount of time you are there, not going outside security would be a real missed opportunity in my view.

The best place to spot from within the terminal is next to a window.
