Pinal Air Park, KMZJ, aerial photo shoot

Thu Mar 08, 2018 1:26 pm

Hi all,

Last time I was there, photo opportunities were near enough zero from the outside.
However there are loads of pictures on here and other sites taken from aircraft in the circuit. How does one go about organising this? Is there a contact at one of the Tuson flying clubs perhaps? Anyone got some advice to help me out? I just need a pilot to take me up for a jolly over KMZJ if we can arrange it. Any view on pricing?

Thanks!

I'd recommend Double Eagle Aviation out of Tucson. I used them last year and they were brilliant. They know exactly what the photographers are looking for.

I set my trip up well ahead of time and it was all sorted out via email and paid by credit card on the day.

Double Eagle are crooks. They've killed their local competition. Not only from TUS airport but from the neighboring air strips too.
Since they did that to the competition, they are charging 2-3 times the regular price. I would never use those crooks and I wouldn't recommend them.

I think Southwest Heliservices at TUS is also offering photo flights. At least over AMARG but they might also fly to Pinal Airparkl. Not cheap either though, I believe 150 USD/pax for a 30 minute flight based on 3 pax.

I suppose that depends what you would call "the regular price". They were about 20% more expensive than others I've used from small airfields like Apple Valley or Avra Valley and they're operating out of an international airport.

I know plenty of people that have used Double Eagle and been perfectly happy with the service.

Glad to see Southwest join Pan Am, Olympic, Aeroflot, Sabena, and British Airways among the airlines that operated helicopters too... j/k

Double Eagle charge $200 for an overflight of AMARC, and for AMARC with Marana, $420.
