Spotting at DEN

Fri Feb 09, 2018 3:06 pm

I saw that a group have started a page to get Denver to build an observation area: https://www.facebook.com/DENobservationdeck/

I saw that they have a couple of places they want an observation area built, but does anyone have any places they spot now? The airport is not very friendly to planespotters from what I can see.

I spotted by Rwy 16L on a pull-out at a side road for approaches. Security stopped by but after checking what I was doing, said he would call it in and that I was good to stay. DEN is a tough airfield at which to spot since you never know what runways will be used and they are all so spread out that it is next to impossible to get from one to another without missing a specific flight. I got lucky and caught this one: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Icelanda ... SyfAG90TDp

Not sure that I would make a special trip to DEN for spotting--quite different from LAX or MIA.
