ID help with Plane and Airline

Tue Feb 06, 2018 7:58 pm

Curious about this plane, I wondered what kind it is, and where it is going to/from? Might help if I knew the airline.

Seen going east to west from northern east texas on 1-29-18 at 2:30.

Thanks for info.

It looks like a Boeing 757-200, but I can't find it on FR24. The only ones I see are Delta, but that color scheme doesn't match. I'm looking on the 29th at 18:30UTC. To be sure, I also filtered on B767's and A321's, but no luck.

I think we are +6 now (CST, USA) so that is 20:30? What is FR24, can I use that to look these up?

Yeah, I couldn't find the color scheme, although I saw a plane having a similar scheme several days later. So I think it's a common carrier.

Ah crap, I got mixed up with the 2. Should of course be 14:30 + 6 = 20:30 :embarrassed2:

It's GTI8584, BWI to GRK (N645GT, B767): https://www.flightradar24.com/2018-01-2 ... 4/10451ba5

That's a cool link, it's going to Jan 30th, though, how do I adjust it? Or what should I Google to figure out how to use it? Yeah the blue on the back looks right for Atlas Air. I tried AA, delta, wasn't getting anywhere.

Possible, but my initial impression is a 767-300. Got me on the airline though - doesn't seem to match DL or FedEx.

EDIT: Whoops, I see Kas got it. Well, at least I was correct on the type.

The reason that it jumps to the 30th is that on the free version, playback is only available for a week. I used our work account, as we have a subscription that enables me to go back a bit further.

The website is www.flightradar24.com and they also have an app for smartphones. It’s really handy, especially when you’re out shooting photos or just looking up and wondering what the aircraft is that you’re seeing. I can definitely recommend it.

I'll take a look at the app, I got Air Traffic and Flight Tracker the other day. Yeah, maybe I'll sign up for the free trial on flightradar24, it then goes to 90 days on silver.

Thanks, I was really curious about this plane. And good to find out where it was going to and from, as well, I was curious about that too. Should be able to figure out what I saw now, if I see something flying over.

I looked at a few other photos I'd shot over the past week, how accurate are the FR24 times? Seemed off a few minutes.

In my opinion always accurate enough to determine what aircraft you saw.

As far as I know FR24 is accurate, the delay is around 10 seconds or so. There was a time planes were shown with some minutes delay in the United States because of security reasons. But I don't think that's the case anymore nowadays.

Correct, I haven't seen that 5-minute delay in probably a couple years, at least.

I'd say FR24 times are at least as accurate as the clock on my camera.....which is probably a few minutes off one way or another. But as Kas stated, close enough to enable identification.

It seemed to make sense, but I wanted to make sure I got the right plane, and nothing got goofed up. The colors matched up, but it seemed maybe a few minutes off. Not a problem, really.
