LHR Spotting Trip

Tue Jan 23, 2018 1:36 pm

Dear fellows,

for a spotting trip to LHR I am considering a hotel south of the runways in proximity to Hatton Cross.

I have Premier Inn Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 and Hilton Garden Inn in mind.
Any ideas regarding floor number and room number?

Do you have any other suggestions for hotels that also allow me to spot from the room and that are in walking distance to Hatton Cross?
I've been to the Renaissance last year and it was great....but this time I want to be in walking distance to HC.

Best,
Peter

Hi Peter

The Premier Inn at T4 has got to be the spotters hotel of choice now. The views from the high rooms are great and they understand and will try to accommodate spotters/photographers requests if you tell them you want a "spotting room".

I stayed there in June 2017 shortly after the hotel opened and requested a room with an airport view which I was lucky to get. The view is spectacular despite being behind double glazed glass and good quality photos are possible with care of all movements on 27L, and the sun is behind you for most of the day.

If spotting from the room is a requirement then it can't be bettered. There's also a bus stop right outside if you wish to use the free bus network around the airport.

Hope this helps.............

I have been recently (Sept. 2017) at the Premier Inn at T4, and asking at reception for a room on a high floor with airport views made the trick. Be aware that the windows cannot be opened and are made of double glass, so in my experience the quality of the photos suffers, but again not everyone has the same requeriments.

A bus stop right on the door and a Costa on the ground floor really complete the package :)

Cheers,
Miguel
