I'd like some info on this too. I spotted at ORD in 2007 & 2008. But now all the runways have changed, so I have no clue.

This is my one shot at ORD on this site. It's from the USG parking lot.

That place was great, especially on weekends.Runway 28, Literally, a landing every 45 seconds throughout the entire day and well into the night. Also, this runway was nearest to the Intl terminal, so all the Intl heavies would use it. It was also the runway closest to the main cargo area, so all of the cargo heavies would use it. As a bonus, although you couldn't photograph, you could watch and listen to airplanes as they began their takeoff roll down runway 22L

This is now runway 28R, and my understanding is it's not used for landings anymore :eyebrow:

I don't know if they use 4R for landings anymore. If they do, there's a circular area,( I think its a bus stop area), off to the west of it. Good in the afternoon, but not going really be worth it in the winter months. For morning to mid-day arrivals on 4R, I used to go down Seymour Ave until it dead-ends. Unfortunately, it doesn't dead-end anymore & connects directly to Irving Park rd.

If 22R is still used for landings, I used to sit in a building parking lot on W.Higgins Rd

There's a few places on the west side where I could get landings on 14R, takeoffs on 32L and landings on NOW runway 10L. But i can't remember where they are.

All of these places I have listed, except USG, you couldn't sit too long...and again, it was 10 years ago. There's like 3 or 4 new runways opened since then.

I also anxiously await a local to chime in.

In the meantime, you could try these:

Also, ORD does have an airport watch

There are several spots that I go to for International heavies. If they are using 28C then the Schiller Park train station is good-but if you go during the week you will have to pay. I have had no problems there. If they use 10c then there are industrial areas of York/E[mhurst Rd. that offer great views Most of the other runways offer good views -just move around until you find what you like( but just watch where you park.)
