I'm trying to find some (ideally free or very cheap) tools to do fairly minor editing to some (HD) footage shot in portrait / vertical aspect ratio. Any suggestions or tips?
I intentionally filmed vertically (not on a smartphone, but a camera on a tripod) because it suited the subject matter (planes approaching to land), and because I've been noticing a growing number of vertical videos for consumption on mobile screens. However, I now struggle to find any tools to use - all I really want is to shorten clips. Being able to add different clips together would be a bonus, but isn't a must. Meanwhile, the freeware I've tried so far does recognise that it was shot vertically, but then places it, rotated, in a widescreen letterbox, adding black bars to the sides. Hardly what I was trying to achieve...
Thanks in advance for any tips & recommendations!
