Create Your Own Airline V7

Mon Oct 26, 2009 9:27 am

So I thought i'd do this again. Did it a year ago and it went for a while.
So here is what you have to do.

Airline name: TBD
Headquarters: St. Moritz - SMV
Hubs: n/a
Focus city: n/a
Fleet: Embraer Lineage 1000, Airbus A319LR, Boeing 737 BBJ, Canadair Challenger
Aircraft configs: Luxury - everything that is state-of-the-art.
Codeshares: PrivatAir
Frequent flyer program: TBD
Member lounge: Not required - pick up at appointed location using superclass vehicles. Arrival at airport right in time before departure. Boarding imminent.
Subsidiaries: n/a

Flights: Domestic, transatlantic/pacific, longrange.

Other info: I personally think the market for legacy carriers and LCCs is saturated. It would be absurd to start up an airline offering exactly these kinds of flights, so I had to think about something different. I like PrivatAir's model, but my airline's offerings would be supposed to be a little more extended. The CRJ and Embraer would be used for charter flights only, thus they would have a typical private jet interior. The Airbus and Boeing 737 would operate scheduled flights, mostly transatlanic and transpacific, wherever the demand is existent. Codeshare with PTI because they also fly BBJ/A319LR so not too many new aircraft would be required.

My dream airline fills an unseen niche, and I don't want to give away any details until someday I am able to start it. But starting any airline would cost more money than the average bourgeois slave could ever manage  crying

Airline name: Linear Airlines
Headquarters: Regina, SK
Hubs: Regina (YQR), Saskatoon (YXE), Winnipeg (YWG)
Focus city: n/a
Fleet: Embraer E-170
Aircraft configs: Around 70 economy, 4 abreast. LiveTV seatback television, leather seats
Codeshares: n/a
Frequent flyer program: n/a
Member lounge: n/a
Subsidiaries: n/a

Flights and Other Info: Flights from 3 medium-sized western Canadian cities (possibility for expansion to other cities) to popular tourist destinations in the United States, such as Orlando, New York, San Fransisco, and such. My logic is that people would pay a little more to not have to connect in Toronto, Minneapolis, Vancouver, or Calgary. I would offer services that people would get from other competing airlines, such as free drinks/snacks, meals included in price, and buy-on-board food. On time flights and customer service would be emphasized, as well as flights that depart or arrive at a reasonable hour. Flights could be booked through our website or through travel agents as part of vacation packages. Flights to the US would be reduced during the summer, additional flights may be offered within Canada. Transportation can also be booked from arrival airport to hotel, price of transportation added on to total ticket price. All inclusive fares, additional options can be added to total fare. Linear Airlines- Your local airline

I've always had a dream to start an airline like this. Just a little local hometown airline that flies intra-State routes and then some much in the fashion of an enlarged hub-and-spoke Big Sky. The concept would be a re-birth of the old Mountain West Airlines.

Big version: Width: 511 Height: 214 File size: 75kb

Airline name: Mountain West Airlines
Airline code: M4
Headquarters: Boise, Idaho
Hubs: Boise, Idaho
Focus city: None
Fleet: Beech 1900, Embraer 120
Aircraft configs:
Beech 1900 - 19 pax
Embraer 120 - 30 pax
Codeshares: Alaska Air Group

Flights:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...YNVRoN2Y3cUdDdmRndnlVNDZ2ZGc&hl=en

Other info:
Believe it or not, the schedule I posted isn't that far off from the aggregate amount of service Boise has seen from both QX and GQ throughout the past. The biggest difference of course is that the schedule pretty much takes the peak amount of seats we've seen to each city and adds it all together into one schedule. The idea is that a healthy combination of O&D as well as connecting traffic could sustain that schedule. Unfortunately, I do not think such a schedule now would be profitable considering the battle over market share that air service lost with the bus companies on Intra-State service, but there is a lot of demand in this niche sector and it's more of a "what-if air service won out" scenario.
