RE: Create Your Own Airline V4

Sun Jul 15, 2007 4:50 pm

Italia Airlines has announced the first destinations for the Boeing 787-8. All Boeing 787-8 routes are currently served out of FCO and will not fly out of focus cities BLQ and PMO.

The following destinations will be served by the B787:

-JFK
-ATL
-ORD
-HKG
-PEK
-SIN
-YYZ
-DXB
-NRT

All routes are served daily.

More Aircraft To Be Ordered

With the arrival of the Boeing 787-8 aircraft in the next 4 days, Italia Airlines has been choosing either to order Airbus 380 aircraft or more Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The CEO of the airline, considered that the B787 will be the most likely choice over the A380, due to the airline already operating B787 aircraft. Italia Airlines has already ordered 18 of the aircraft to be delivered over the next 4 days.

Mine would be TWA resurrected.

Main hub, naturally in St. Louis. Terminal 5 at JFK would be reclaimed. Secondary hubs would be in Orlando and Las Vegas. Cities served would be cities listed on the USA today's weather page, along with numerous international routes. Main goal - to reach any city pairing with one stop or less.

My TWA would be a moderate to high cost carrier with emphasis on service and comfort. Bring back the glory days when VIP's and celebrities wanted to fly TWA.

International First class -- On the 7478I upper deck, 757LR & 737LR, these seats would be a hybrid version of pod suites used on Emirates and Jet Airways, and the new herringbone first class seats now being introduced on Cathay Pacific. Other aircraft would have the "standard" single file configuration.

International Business - Lay flat seats staggered arrangement allowing up to an 80" bed.

Domestic First / Business -- 50"-60" pitch cradle type seats formerly used by British Airways.

Economy would be a minimum of 34" pitch with one seat on average removed from the abreast arrangement. For example, 737 reduced from 6 across to 5. All seats in all aircraft would attempt to maintain a 24"-25" total width. Regional aircraft would maintain normal across seating arrangements.

Symbol * indicated seats on the upper deck of the 748I.
U designates Ultra Class Pod Seats.
B designates International Business Seats.
E designates Domestic/short range International Business Class Seats.
C designated Comfort Class Seats.

Ultra Class Arrangements

747-8I - 16U* / 90B / 190C = 288pax
747-8I - 16U* / 64B / 278C = 358 pax
777-300ER - 14U / 50B / 189C = 253 pax
777-200LR - 20U / 60B / 92C = 172 pax
777-200LR - 14U / 46B / 149C = 209 pax
787-9 - 12U / 41B / 126C = 179 pax
787-8 - 12U / 45B / 75C = 125 pax
787-8 - 8U / 34B / 117C = 159 pax
757-200LR - 6U / 22B / 70C = 98 pax
737-700/LR - 4U / 16B / 50C = 70 pax

Comfort Class Arrangements

747-8I - 40E / 356*C = 396 pax
777-300/ER - 35E / 293C = 328 pax
777-200ER - 35E / 230C = 265 pax
787-3 - 24E / 180C = 210 pax
757-300 - 16E / 145C = 161 pax
737-900 - 16E / 110C = 126 pax
737-800/ER - 16E / 95C = 111 pax
737-700/LR - 12E / 75C = 87 pax
E195AR - 9E / 86C = 95 pax
E170/LR - 6E / 54C = 60 paxt
E145XR - 4E / 32C = 36 pax
E135XR - 4E / 20C = 24 pax
Q-400 - 6E / 54C = 60 pax
Q-200 - 3E / 27C = 30 pax

Long live TWA.

Well G-Asia has reported huge losses, with many marketing analyst stating that an all business class for Asia is not appropriate at this point of time thus the airline has had to be shut down.

The CEO has not given up with his dream to run an airline, and has stated he will be back

SouthJet

Regional Carrier - SouthJet Connect
Hubs: IAD (DCA if slots were available), MEM, possible future hub @ MSP
Focus Cities: MSY, CLT, MCO, RDU, STL
IATA - DX
Callsign -

Low cost/low fare carrier
Mainline - Airbus 319, Embraer 190, Embraer 170, DHC-8 Q400; possibility of Airbus 320s for heavy routes
Regional - ERJ-140 for very light routes -- limited use; opens only after airline is safely established and turning a profit

Business Plan:

Cities would be served initially from IAD and/or MEM depending on the geography. As our name suggests, we will focus on bringing regular jet service to cities throughout the South.

We would be P2P heavy using the FL model with large focus city operations. Ideal would be 3-5x daily frequency using the appropriate plane; some destinations may be 2x daily with service only to MEM or IAD. Most longhauls/transcons will be only from the hubs and heavy routes from the focus cities, as short hops are our money makers like WN and FL. We would not require the frequency that WN prefers in opening markets, which would allow use to open smaller markets like FL.

On Board Product: IFE will be XM radio. On board, we will serve a snack and a free soft drink. Alcoholic drinks will cost several dollars, though may be free to Elite flyers, if costs permit. Flights over 2 hours will have a BOB program with limited cold dishes such as sandwiches and salads.

Seating: All planes will feature leather seating with 31-33'' pitch. WN's open seating will be used to ensure quick turns. Once our FF program is in place, Elite flyers will have priority to board. Otherwise, boarding will be done in groups based on check-in time.

Customer Service: Our call-centers will be based in the United States. While this is not as inexpensive as outsourcing to a foreign country, customer satisfication tends to be higher. It is a possibility that we could follow B6's approach in using home-based workers.

Additionally, we will place great emphasis on creating a fun, low-stress environment such as WN, B6, and J7.

FF Program - Our FF program will be based on segments and have two tiers. Elite flyers will have no change fees, priority boarding, priority check-in, priority baggage, and possibly a free alcoholic drink on-board, by showing their Elite card.

Interlines/Codeshares - We would accept interlines from EAS providers, assuming the cost to us is negligble. We would attempt to establish interlines with similar international carriers such as FI and EI. Additionally, we would explore an interline/codeshare with operators such as KX, JM, and UP, but only providing that costs are not prohibitive.

Destinations

*Larger markets will open before the smaller markets, especially outside the South. Growth will be controlled and some projected destinations may not be open. We are intentionally avoiding WN and FL as much as possible until we have grown considerably. B6's ops are not as heavily considered given the product differential, and their east-west strategy.

To note on the destinations, since our strategy is to serve the Washington area and the South, and to essentially take people from those destinations elsewhere, we will largely serve primary airports outside of this area unless a very reasonable secondary airport is available. It is largely impractical to serve secondary airports from the markets we serve, at least initially. Secondary airports might open in the future, though some are listed herein. If costs are prohibitive, we would move service to a reasonable secondary airport.

New England - BOS, BDL, PVD, MHT, BTV, PWM
New York - LGA, ALB, HPN, SWF, ROC, SYR, BUF, ISP
Mid-Atlantic - PHL, PIT, MDT, ACY, BWI, DCA (seek all available slots aggressively)
Midwest - SDF, IND, LEX, CMH, CVG, CLE, DTW, MDW, MKE, DSM, MSP, MCI, ICT, GRR, FNT, CAK, DAY, BMI, FWA, MLI, MSN,
Texas/Oklahoma - HOU, DFW, SAT, AUS, ELP, OKC, TUL
Southwest - LAS, PHX, SLC, ABQ, TUS, RNO, DEN
West Coast - SAN, LAX, SFO, PDX, SEA, SMF,
Foreign - BDA, NAS, FPO, SJU, CUN, ACA, YTZ (excellent use of a Q400!)

South
Virginia - RIC, PHF, ROA
North Carolina - AVL, CLT, GSO, RDU
South Carolina - CHS, CAE, GSP, MYR
Georgia - ATL, SAV
Florida - JAX, TLH, PNS, PIE, SRQ, RSW, FLL, PBI, MIA, DAB, MLB; seasonal - PFN, VPS, EYW
Alabama - BHM, HVL, MGM
Mississippi - GPT, JAN
Tennessee - TYS, BNA, MEM, CHA
Arkansas - LIT, XNA
Louisiana - MSY, BTR, SHV

Other destinations could be added throughout the South, but this is unlikely as we would prefer to not outsource to a regional carrier, and there are few destinations not already listed that could be profitably served by jet service.
