Walthers DC-3 For HO Scale,- Why Not Boeing?

Wed Mar 26, 2003 1:40 pm

I know I am not the SOLE aviation AND railroad enthusiant here!

Walthers makes a DC-3 in 1:87 to use with railroads. I am so hoping they wil soon make a Boeing 737-100 or 200. In reality, we are only talking about 30 scale feet!

Why don't more model railroad manufacturers wise up?? Sheesh!

my guess-and I also wonder myself-is that they see airplanes as an enemy to the transport mode they love (trains) plus there arent many people like you who are fans of both ways of transport so the train makers think maybe planes wont sell as much and/or if they do sell, they'd cut a bit off their train model sales.

that said, I love the Walthers Delta Airlines dc-3 (also available in Ozark and Pan Am livery among others) and hope to get one soon!

Do you have any statistics to back up your statement "...there aren't many people like you who are fans of both ways of transport...?"

You would be surprised how many of us there are. Blanket statements like that will bring us out of the benchwork, I mean, woodwork. Just sayin'

I really don't actually, the only "statistics" I base that off is the number of train model stores I have visited that also carry plane models-there used to be a local chain, Hobby Bench, which was great to get commercial airline toys as well but they are phasing them out these days. Apart from Hobby Bench, zero other train specialist model stores even care to have like, one engine Cessna models around here.

And...wow, did I just re-open a discussion that had been closed 15 years ago????? :spin:
