Gatwick Spotting

Sun Apr 29, 2018 2:39 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of going to Gatwick to do some spotting and have a couple of questions for others who know the area well.

When spotting at the 08R end, I understand there is a field you can spot from (I've been there before) but just want to confirm how you are actually meant to get to it. Do you just follow the yellow arrow as drawn or is there another way to it, such as the blue arrow?

Also, is there anywhere near in the green highlighted area below that gives a good view for spotting and if so, where is best to park?

Thanks for your help!

The yellow arrow leads up a track surrounded by farmers crop or livestock fields, and as it's over a gate it's private property. Best to stay on the side of the Lowfield Heath Road for arrival shots. There's also a crash gate which you can see over with small stepladders. No parking in this vicinity, best to drive past the Purple Parking long-term parking compound to a lay-by a little further on and walk back, it's about 300 mtrs. The area you have circled in the 2nd photo is within the airport grounds.
