New airline. Any ideas for it?

Wed Feb 28, 2018 10:06 am

Hi! I am planning to start a new airline which will have domestic, international as well as cargo routes. Please do provide me with some names for it. Also some other ideas like the fleet would be helpful.

I'd say another Eastern Air Lines re-launch. But this time, starting as a mostly domestic airline flying to the other states from Miami(Oh, and Cuba flights would be nice)

Also, experimenting with bare metal on some planes wouldn't be bad. Say,finding ways for it to be low cost to maintain so you save money on fuel.

Oh, is this irl? You could fly say Airbus A320's domestically as a low-cost carrier to other parts of India and then as revenue expands, you can buy long haul planes to fly to parts of Europe, say Barcelona? But I don't know much about route demand.

AeroNet Air Service. An airlines is certainly a great way to turn a large fortune into a small fortune.

Airplane used to be pretty much polished aluminum but I think the maintenance cost for keeping the aluminum polished was more expensive than just painting the airplanes.

Which sucks because the AA stripes livery looked so good in the sunset.

A low cost, but full service airline with a corporate culture like Southwest.

I'd have a fleet of 20 763ERs, and negotiate with Airbus on getting about 20 A321LRs tacked to an order of 100 CSeries 100/300s. I'd have hubs in SJC, AUS, and RDU with focus cities in JFK and LAX (in order to have a lot of codeshare partners), and DEN (enough to stay off of UA and WNs radars while still having something of a true midcon/mountain time hub).

Based off historic a.net posts the most profitable airline in history will be an airline with just 757s operating out of BNA.

Wrong wrong wrong. It would totally be DTW. Every other airport that has, will or currently exists is a lie.

For an LCC I'd say Sheep. When you pronounce it sheep and cheap sound so similar it could almost be the same word, and as an LCC you want to have the image to be cheap. Of course, as a logo and mascotte you can use a sheep.

Dedicated cargo isn't such a good idea since it's a whole other kind of business. Of course nothing stops you from hauling belly cargo on your regular flights, but to start off with I'd concentrate on passenger flights only.

PS Didn't India have some kind of law that for the first number of years you're only allowed to fly domestic before you're allowed to fly international? This is difficult because the domestic market in India is already saturated with LCCs.

Not only that, but modern aircraft are mostly made of carbon fiber instead of metal. Bare metal has a kind of nice look, bare carbon fiber doesn't. American Airlines tried to solve this by painting the carbon fiber parts grey, but you could still see the difference. In the end it was unsustainable, therefor as the last big airline on this planet they switched to fully painted aircraft, all others had done so long before them.

I really hope you’re not actually trying to start an airline based off advice on a free forum...

If you are, you need huge financial backing and a bulletproof business plan to have any chance of starting domestic flights on small aircraft, let alone international or even long haul on a large scale.

Indiana (pronounced indy-AH-nuh). Similiar to Mexicana of Mexico. Just the first thing that came to my mind.
