Anyone do custom-build FSX/X-Plane rigs?

Sun Dec 31, 2017 8:24 am

Hi all,

While I know there are people who will build you the machine of your dreams, I'm not talking solely about hardware; I'm talking about any simmers/gamers out there who specialize in building not just the system, but also installing FSX and/or X-Plane with the latest, most realistic mesh, sceneries, and airports along with AI flightplans and aircraft.

Do such businesses exist?

Bump. I was wondering this as well.I was looking at getting back into Flight Sim, but remember how many grueling hours and hours and hours it took installing airplanes, good sceneries, and other add-ons.

I don't know if such businesses exist, but if you haven't been simming for a while and hop onto P3D, you might be surprised how little addon scenery you might have to install compared to FSX to make it look "good". As for planes, well if you get the latest version of P3D (v4 64 bit) then there aren't nearly as many planes to choose from at the moment because they are having to redo tons of gauges to make them 64 bit compatible. If you are talking about payware planes etc then 99.5% of the time they come with installers anyway, so you shouldn't have to spend too long installing them.

Now maybe it's just me, but should you really be complaining about a few hours total of installation time, when you consider the weeks, months, and years it took for these people to make these products for you?

I certainly am under no illusion on the man hours it takes to build such a product. I just remember when I was big into FS9 many very late nights scratching my head trying to install many of the great freeware products. Most of the payware stuff worked perfect. Well worth the money. But there were also many freeware products that really enhanced the game and it was no fun installing those.

I think I have a PC narrowed down that I'm going to buy, and I'll start slow on adding add-ons.
