Detroit Aviation & Airline Collectibles Show

Sun Dec 10, 2017 1:26 am

Picked up a card at the ATL in October about the DTW show. The safety card guy says it's still small. As a huge Northwest fan, I was wondering if anyone on here as been to this show before? If so what was the show like? NW stuff?

Bump. I'm curious also. I'm planning to go there next year.

The show is held in a hangar at YIP airport. When I attended in May 2016, there were various vendors/traders with memorabilia, including safety cards, from NW and countless other airlines.

For safety cards DTW ranks up there with the LAX show, though LAX in January 2012 had more vendors and more random stuff such as cutlery and meals from aircraft.

Is it put on by the Yankee Air Force? I meant to go this year and spaced on the date.

I've been twice: in 2016, and last in May of this year. The show is on a smaller scale, but still with some good items to browse. I've been to the LAX show many times, and this is not comparable, although, it may be growing in size. It's nice because it's at YIP, which has been nostalgic cargo airport. They had a DC-8 on display, which you could freely walk around. That was worth the trip alone. You can also buy flights on a DC-3, which I did in 2016, and it was totally worth it. So, bottom line, it's smaller collectibles show, but there's so much more there.
