How to get safety cards out of planes
of my knowledge it it is illegal to take them so how do you get them.

Ask a flight attendant if you can have one of their spares. That works, unless you are in Air Koryo. They sell them for money only.

I know this is not really your objective, but couldn't you just take photos of them with your iPhone, etc..
I am not sure how much longer safety cards might be around, with everything going digital. Yes, it makes them more valuable in time to come, but they are part of the aircraft or airline's property after all.
I agree, ask for a spare, or leave them where you find them.

I think with Ryanair you'd have to do a lot of careful peeling!

Techinically, it is illegal, but not something that I have ever seen enforced.
With over 3000 cards, I have been taking safety cards off of airplanes for over 40 years now. If you don't want to make it obvious, slip it into a newspaper or airline magazine (which you are encouraged to take) ... that way if anyone ever did query you, you could just claim you didn't know it was there.
Other than asking a Flight Attendant, you can also look on eBay or frequent airline memorabilia shows.
Sometimes, scrounging around flea markets, you can just discover some. I recently bought two 1955 vintage Trans-Canada Air Lines Viscount 724 safety cards at a flea market for $4 that included a 1958 TCA timetable ... sometimes you just luck out!

just make sure you don't take it out from your seat, take it from someone else's seat - just in case LOL!

Or just sit in seat 2F, where a pocket contains 3 proper paper cards..not that I've ever erm..collected such things
