Plane Spotting Tour Company - London

Thu Dec 15, 2016 2:37 pm

Just wondering. If anyone was visiting London say... Heathrow for a day of plane spotting, would you be interested in paying someone to drive you around to the known plane spotter locations, offer you snacks and cold drinks, or packed lunches, use of Step ladders and folding chairs, plus an ipad with Flight radar 24 to be able to see all the flights landing & Overflying flights. What about if you could rent camera equipment, such as spare batteries, recharge your batteries, or rent a zoom lens or smaller lens? You could store your bags in the boot, or on wet or cold days sit inside a heated car!

If you were able to hire this person and vehicle for say 4, 8 or 12 hours in a day what and they offered pick up and drop off service, with 50 miles free, with additional miles paid for on a per mile basis - would that be of interest?? More so to overseas or out of town visitors, but would this be useful? How much would you be willing to pay for this service?

It would save renting a car, it would mean knowing all the spots to go to, plus not having to buy or bring bulky equipment. It could mean not having to miss a plane while you nip off to get some lunch.

Any interest?

Personally, no. It's easy enough to search locations on the internet and find my way around.

I'd consider it, depending on the price. I'd probably be more interested if I didn't live in the UK. Have you tried offering a package on an app like Showaround?

Mate, I would be mad keen to employ you for EXACTLY that...
I've often thought how good it would be to employ a service like you suggest when planespotting overseas.
I've done exactly what you propose for interstate and overseas mates who have come to Sydney, but done it for free in the spirit of mate ship and a shared passion for planespotting. Isolde however be happy to pay for such a service overseas, and Heathrow and surrounding airports would be my number one priority.
Good luck with it....
My next trip to the UK isin the very early stages of planning.
I just wanna live while I'm alive!

I think this is a viable business to venture into. Lots of tourists who are also aviation fans would certainly like the idea (based on price of course) so maybe you can break it down to packages... Anyway, I think it has great potentials and wish you the best

Thanks for the replies, I thought this was a dead topic.

I'm in the process of setting up a Facebook page, where you can purchase 4 hour blocks, with lower rates for longer times, custom schedules eg- if you want to go to FAB it's X cost and LTN y cost etc...

I figure as well for ground up to 4 it's going to be more cost effective.

So watch this space,

@mods am I allowed to advise the Facebook page when I'm set?

Cheers MAC
