MD82 Noise in the Left aft wing exit

I am experiencing on an MD82 Noise in the Left aft emergency wing exit seat area, has anyone experienced this or have a suggestion

What kind of noise, and a suggestion for what? Are you asking as a flight attendant, mechanic, pilot, or passenger? What is it you're looking for?

The only noise you would hear is a pressurization leak. It could be a faulty pressurization seal or Miss adjusted door stop fittings. Did you report it to the crew? Effecting only one of the 4 O/W exits does indicate something is not right and should be addressed by maintenance.

Strange. Reviewing posts for what? Someone asked a Question and on a public forum you answer the question if you can. It's that simple.

No further information than you provided my first guess would be a leaking door seal. Usually a squealing or whistle type noise.

Hi, as mentioned, most probably a problem with isolation gasket around LH After Emergency door. This door is frequently open when a/c is in service, to improve ventilation, and when closed, no special checks are demanded.
It may be also related to engine high pitch sound, that use to happen when some malfunction of air duct is present..

You may report to FA. On ground, everything will be checked as per AMM

They all leak.
You can switch to decaf now.

But seriously, leaking doors is incredibly common, particularly during climb and descent, until the pressure delta is great enough to truly seal that door in place.
I have, however, sat on a United 757-222 at the over wing exit row and listened to the door gush air out for six hours. That made for a chilly flight!
But there's not much of a safety concern over it. It the door isn't properly secured, the corresponding idiot light will illuminate for the flight deck.

True. If the door/hatch is properly secured, it is sitting on some pretty serious hard points and any leaks would not have influence on anything that might interfere with the aircrafts pressure vessel as far as airworthiness or safety is concerned.

That is correct. If the door/hatch was not properly secured (closed) then the cockpit would have a light indicating the door is not properly closed.

Next time, look for Toilet Paper’s roll, get it wet and place on top air leak. Sound will repeat after some 30 min, due paper become dry. Repeat procedure till land.
This procedure is not new, nor in AMM, is copyright from FA, who uses it for the same noise, when it comes from entry doors..

I can't quite imagine how to reach the leakage with your wettened toilet paper. The leak will we between door and door frame structure, but you won't reach anything else but the door and door frame lining.

I'd guess the the theory is that at least some of the wet toilet paper will get drawn into the leak and stop it, however temporarily. Or, maybe the wet toilet paper will help to muffle the annoying sound the leak makes? I'd further hazard a guess that one would stand a better chance of getting the wet toilet paper to or near the actual leak on a pop-out overwing exit than on a plug-style one, but that might vary by manufacturer or I could be way off base on that entirely since I have no idea how wide the flanges are on either style.

Sure, to make the toilet paper work efficiently it needs to be sucked into the leakage and seal. But to achieve that you would need to place it where there is enough flow to suck the toilet, and that would be where the big pressure difference is: Close to the leaking sealing between door structure and door frame structure. But I can't think of any aircraft where you can reach the aircraft skin with your toilet paper. You always have lining panels (and sealings between those) preventing it.

As FA, they do it on a daily basis.
Not so complicated, since Cabin Pressure will be higher than atmosphere, Air will “escape” airline by the door gasket. Will be not so difficult to place ser paper.

Help!!!!!!! this subject is getting just to strange to answer in a rational manner. Time to take my TP and put it to use. I was not aware that the Roo-skis even had TP.

I'm not sure that being Russian has any credibility, but the fact does remain that being Russian does represent things that might kill you during normal powered flight.

Hi: Disagree. They are all PRONE to leak. Depends on company, they will be rigurosly checked every time door is cycle, and if small leak is found, gasket will be adjusted and covered with silicone grease. If gasket found out of tolerance, it will be replaced.
In more demanding companies, if complaint about air leak repeats, after correction, aircraft will be pressurized for check.
