Moving Map GPS Unit in the Cockpit of a Gulfstream?

Thu May 31, 2018 4:53 pm

Was wondering about a video that I came across on YouTube and its a video about a Gulfstream cockpit filming the moon as they cross the North Atlantic.
Inside the cockpit, I noticed there a graphical moving map GPS in the middle section of the console. See below link.

What's the technical name of that moving map unit display that is shown in that part of the video?

Yes, that's just repeating the display from the cabin entertainment system. I'd bet that screen can display video from external cameras etc. and it's there (officially, at least) to aid the pilots by displaying such video. That it can tie into the cabin may well be something you aren't supposed to do (wink, wink).

You're probably right as I didn't think of the camera issue as most of the airplanes I have operated that had a camera features displayed on the EFB. Wonder if this is capable of displaying Jepp data on the screen as well?
