UA Maintenance at HOU

Thu May 10, 2018 5:10 am

It was interesting to see upon landing in HOU, that there were 5 737s parked by UA hanger (hangers maybe) by RWY 35. Was wondering if UA ran out of space at IAH to do maintenance of their smaller birds or are they wanting to primarily focus on their wide bodies out of IAH? Was interesting to see.

Old TI and CO hangars, only heavy MX facility in Houston. Will be shutting down soon and moving to IAH in next year or so.

So what's happening to the old TI and CO hangers after UA moves the operation to IAH?

HOU does primarily B737 heavy Checks At Hobby. IAH does primarily Line Maintenance.

I imagine they'll be demolished given their age, the site will be cleaned up, and then up for rent again. Land is at a premium at HOU and that's a pretty prominent location.

HOU usually has one to two units on the ground.
Now the 39M is being Inducted in HOU and recently 3 have been on the ground (1 currently in SKF for WiFi).
737NG maintenance and some mods (slimlines, could be scimitars, upgrades, etc.
The 319/320 fleet has also visited HOU.
