Question about weight and fuel burn information

Fri Apr 20, 2018 2:59 am

Hi all! I hope you guys are doing great :)

After surfing the Internet, I might realize that no airlines provide takeoff weight (measured) and total fuel burn data. In order to validate some simulation cases in my research, I have really wanted to obtain the information through open source data. Does anyone know how to get the data by any chance?

cf. I'm currently trying to simulate LAX to ATL flight with Southwest airline; however, I don't care about airlines, aircraft, and flight trajectories.

Airlines have no obligation to provide such data.

More importantly, burn data changes for literally every flight based on weight, winds and performance factors (e.g. extra drag from damaged flap seals etc...).

Doubt that you will find what you are looking for in any public forum. I might be able to generate a one time set of numberd for you but you have to be very specific regarding a set of parameters regarding weights, specific model of 737 etc.

Eurocontrol has some pretty good aircraft models that they use for simulations, if your are with a university looking at the right sort of research you should be able to get access to the BADA model and aircraft database for your research.

You might want to try this:
https://www.simbrief.com/system/briefing.php
It's free to register and generate a flight plan. It has quite a few aircraft types. It has a lot of auto features but allows you to manually input options like cargo weights etc. I did a quick generation of a 747-400 flight from SEA to NRT and it seemed reasonable. It uses current winds aloft and even provides current NOTAMs if you want detail.

Even though the 400 flight looked reasonable, I can't vouch for it overall accuracy. Good luck!
