Airlines whose flights begin or terminate at one airport only

Thu Apr 05, 2018 1:56 am

This afternoon I was thinking about the amount of airlines whose flights either begin or end at only one airport. The only airline that comes to mind is El Al Israel. Every one of their flights either departs or arrives in Tel Aviv. They do not have any en-route stops (double-stop flights) and they only operate from one airport in Israel. Are there any other airlines who follow this operation? Perhaps Icelandair or WOWair (all flights are non-stop to and from Keflavik).

You could count Swazi Airlink, but it only has one route that it flies several times a day and the plane always overnights in JNB.

Independence Air (remember them?) was like that. Every flight was to or from IAD.

(With one exception. For some reason there was an IAD-TYS-MCO-IAD flight. I never figured out what the deal was with that one.)

Luxair, Gulf Air, Etihad, Oman Air, Icelandair, Air Mauritius, WOW. I'm sure there are plenty more.

If you're not just referring to majors, there are heaps. For example the Nepalese airlines that just fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and back

Pretty sure Cargolux flies all around the world, without LUX being the departure or arrival airport.

SQ has multiple tag-on routes, including fifth freedom. For example, IAH-MAN is bookable as a standalone.
KU used to operate a number of segments not touching KWI as recently as last fall, but I believe all are now dropped - so that one should be right.
CV has a ton of segments that don't touch LUX. They have 7 destinations from ATL, for example.

No, TN flies PPT-LAX-CDG so not all operations out of PPT. LAX-CDG is not connected to PPT.

Bases, that's plural so it doesn't qualify. Besides, "most" isn't good enough. It has to be "all" instead of "most" and as said before only single-based airlines with every flight in/out of that base qualify. No exceptions allowed.

There are many more flights not terminating at HKG for "Cathy Specific". BKK-SIN-BKK. TPE-NRT-TPE. DXB-BAH-DXB to name a few on the passenger side, plus a large number on the cargo side.

Actually there is no airline that operates ONLY on the Lukla route. All nepalese airlines on date operate to over 15 destinations. Safety is hit & miss. But Nepal is a true pioneer as far as regional aviation goes. Commercial scheduled operations from Dirt Runways literally carved into a hillside!

Back to the topic- does Bleddy Awful (BA) make the list? All their flights are to/from London? :rotfl:

Well, you really put deltadude in his place. Do you have a list of rules for this thread that we can read before posting?

Nope, since they fly out of both LHR and LGW. Not to mention they have connecting flights such as SIN-SYD and NAS-GCM.

I was going to say i didn't realize there was such a strict set of rules for this forum.

The OP asked a simple question. My answer I saw "most" because I don't know the entire allegiant flight schedule off hand but I can speak for my airport in which only 3 flights we get don't originate and terminate at PIE. CVG, PIE, AVL. Those flights originate and terminate in their respective cities but the general operation of Allegiant is they begin their day and terminate in the same city.

Patrick clearly stated "no exceptions allowed". In your defense, this rule was not posted by the OP before your post, so Patrick will have to explain why he is holding you responsible for not knowing rules that did not exist before your post.

Doesn’t BA fly out of MAN also?

FI is a good example of the OP’s question, as other have mentioned.

I mentioned SN in an earlier post. They only fly out of BRU but I can't confirm all flights have a single destination.

Depending on your interpretation, that still may meet the OP’s question. The flights all still terminate and originate at BRU, even if they make a stop along the way.

MEA is one I haven't seen mentioned yet. BEY is the only commercial airport in Lebanon, and I don't think they have any tag-on routes.

KU operates KWI-SNN-JFK daily, though SNN is a tech-stop only.

Air Moldova, with base at KIV, seems to be fitting the bill. All of their destinations are international, served non-stop from KIV.

Armenia Aircompany apparently also fit the bill -- they are based at Zvartnots, and all flights come and go either to or from Zvartnots. However, with a fleet of one aircraft, it isn't complicated to stay focused on a single airport as either origin or destination.

There's Skippers Aviation & Cobham here in Perth, and if you include subsidaries there's also Network Aviation (which operates aircraft on behalf of QantasLink).

These airlines entire business stratergy relies on shuffling FIFO workers between Perth & the various mines elswhere in West Australia.
