I don't know about you, but I suspect that all this unwanted and unexpected excitement will tend to cause engine manufacturers to extend the timing of EIS on new engines for new (MoM 797) or existing (A380) applications?

A320 NEO family timing ( 5+ years ) was all about engine readiness.
So I am flabbergasted that these hickups are raining monsoon like on the parade. ... and everybody burned his umbrella. Gah!

Didn't PW assure everyone that they had spent 20 years developing the GTF and that they had it all figured out?

Ironically, the issues are not related to the gearbox itself which performs as expected. The main issues are related to other components.

Well and good, but does it really matter? Bottom line is that PW has delivered another unreliable engine

For the customer, it doesn't really matter.

However, try to picture the headlines if the gearbox itself was faulty. The current faulty components can be replaced relatively easy, redesigning the gearbox would be a nightmare.

At the rate they're going, that could happen.

PW2037 and PW4056/60 never met goal on fuel or reliability. Whats to make anyone think that GTF will do any better?

I'm starting to think that there is a reason that the whole GTF concept wasn't done before. (With any degee of success, I'm aware of the couple times it was tried). Perhaps the stresses it creates on the rest of the engine isn't well understood?

What engine is Hawaiian using on their 321? Are they affected?

Well, I see that one of the two HA A321s ferried from Maui to HNL yesterday, the the subsequent schedule used a 767. The other airplane is in the air.

N204HA must have both engines affected, hnlramper posted a picture this morning of it being readied for a double engine change.

N202HA has continued its normal (ETOPS) flying, must not have any affected engines.
