Trent 900 vs RB2-11
I'm currently sitting at SYD looking at the Trent 900s on a QF A388 and noting how similar they look externally to the RB2-11s that adorned 742s in the 1980s. How similar are they really? Could a mechanic from 1986 find his way around a Trent 900?

The Trent 900 is an RB211, officially known as RB211 Trent 970-84, 970B-84, 972-84, 972B-84, 972E-84, 977-84, 977B-84, 980-84.

)It still is a turbo fan jet engine and probably will strongly show its RR pedigree.
( quite often you can look at some engineering detail and tell the "nest" it hatched from.
other occasions you can discern rebadges that way.)
