1009 would be a QNH value in hPa (hectopascals) and is not used in the US. I can't think of any situation where the word "altimeter" would ever be used with a QNH value.

In the ORD MET, the “A” before four numbers stands for Altimeter.

Do Military air bases still use pressure altitude?

Actually the A doesn't mean altimeter. A before the altimeter indicates QNH in inches HG; Q is QNH in millibars. The word Altimeter would be used on the voice ATIS.
No one mentioned the SLP 083 on the metar. That's calculated sea level pressure in millibars.
That site Altimeter Joe was a little weird as it gave relative humidity which isn't on the ATIS.

What do you mean? We all use QNH, altimeter setting for the altimeters. The performance charts do need PA and it is either added to the ATIS or calculated.

not sure what you are referring to. I just posted the A is for inches HG and Q is for millibars both being QNH. At the end of the METAR is the SLPxxxx and that is the station pressure in millibars.
and I have been to at least one airport that used QFE and if you wanted QNH you had to convert it.
