This happened yesterday, 1/17/18 in the morning. I've never seen anything like it before and am quite curious as to why this was happening.
I was using Flightradar 24 to try to track the flights. All were commercial flights at around 38,000 feet. North South flights mostly, but some east west.
None were from or to any Los Angeles area airports.
They were a the normal city to city flight pattern when they made a big loop (I only could capture part of the loup, which was more of an oval than a perfect circle) around the area before resuming their coarse.
Any idea why this would be done?
Stalling for time because of something going on at the destination airport is all I can think of.
