Australian Aircraft at LAX

Wed Jan 10, 2018 4:35 am

For all of you LAX people out there:
A few weeks ago I was driving along the western perimeter of LAX airport (Pershing Dr.) and saw a row of probably four or five jets. I started wondering what they are doing there? The thing that they had in common was that they were all Australian (Qantas and Virgin Australia). I also noticed that one of the aircraft had its doors open and it looked like some work was doing done to the inside. What is going on here? I was thinking it maybe had to do with the long distance to Australia, that some extra maintenance or checks need to be done before flying back.

I know that Qantas is getting a maintenance facility at LAX, but if that's the reason, the Virgin Australia aircraft wouldn't have been there too.

Australians flights arrive in la early morning. Turning them immediately means they arrive in the evening in Australia. Lousy for connects in la and Australia. These planes sit all day and leave in the evening from oa and arrive in the morning in Australia.
